I just posted these questions over in the 'intro' area before I noticed this section...
any info would be helpful:
Very seriously considering purchasing a Reeper for around town driving here in Gulf Shores Alabama. I would love input from an owner that has purchased and registered one in the state of Alabama. The nearest dealer is 3 hours north so it's a little difficult for me to walk in there and ask questions.
1- How difficult to register? 2- How difficult to insure? (who did you use?) 3- I see some states require LSV's to be regulated (governor) to 25MPH to be street legal. Is that the case in Alabama? 4- Car sales tax is based on location of registration. What is the sales tax based on for these? 5- Who is running the best out-the-door price on these right now? Willing to travel geographically from Dallas to TN to central FL.
Any other info would be great.
FYI - I intend to use it almost exclusively on city streets. Not much legal off road stuff around here.
Please, other state folks feel free to offer advice also.
Send WDE_Reeper a quize or two as he is the only one from Alabama that gets on here much that I know. Message him and see what he might could answer for you? If you buy from a dealer in your state they be able to help you more better at getting it registered in Alabama than you trying to do it on your own. They already know how and what forms to use and were to get processed.
Strictly street driving is ok, just watch out for the other drivers. If you change out the stock tires for some street tires it improves the ride by 100%. Insurance is the same as insuring a dune buggy in Texas I'm not sure about other states.
